Peter Andreevich Tkachev was born on July 9, 1934 and died on June 13, 2012. He has several designs under his catalog of work while working at TsNIITochMash.

History

Peter Tkachev was a small arms designer working at TsNIITochMash. He worked with Sergei Simonov on several of his projects and mostly worked to created prototype weapon systems. One of his most notable designs was the AO-38. It was the first rifle to uses the Balanced Automatic Recoil System (BARS) system, which he designed. The rifle would later spawn the design of the AL-7 and AEK-971, and ultimately the AK-107/108/109.
