It doesn't take a blind person to see that the Xtech mags are very similar to the US Palm mags, but how similar are they? Well let's take a look and find out. If you look at the table below you will see the old US Palm compared to the new US Palm, then the Xtech Mag. For comparison today we will be comparing the MAG47 to the old (pre Century) US Palm mags.

Manufacturer Model Caliber Capacity Weight Spring Length
US Palm Old 7.62x39 30 7.45oz 20.5 inches
Manufacturer Model Caliber Capacity Weight Spring Length
Century Arms New 7.62x39 30 6.16oz 17 inches
Manufacturer Model Caliber Capacity Weight Spring Length
Xtech Tactical MAG47 7.62x39 30 8.15oz 18.5 inches

Let's start by taking a look at the top and working our way down. As you can see from the images below the followers are all the same. All three followers weigh the same at .41 ounces. The ONLY difference between the three is the Century produced US Palm follower is just ever so slightly shorter on the side walls. Aside from that they are all the same.

Looking at the sides of the mags that lock into the receiver of the AK the similarities don't stop there. On the following pictures the Xtech Mag47 is on the left. You can see the spots in the in the sidewall the aluminum reinforcements show through, which are almost identical. While I didn't measure them, they are close enough to make no difference.

One interesting thing to note about the springs. The spacing between the coils and all three mags having a larger body then the last 5 coils being slightly smaller. The spacing between the large section of the Xtech is 15/16 of an inch (23.9mm) and the small section is 3/4 of an inch (19mm). The US Palm large section is 1 inch (25.4mm) and the small section 15/16 of an inch (23.9mm). The Century mag large section is 15/16 of an inch (23.9mm) and the small section 3/4 of an inch (19mm). The length of each spring is listed at the very top of the article.
