Freestanding Vertical Rack

This semi-portable rack with swivel casters holds long guns vertically in a compact space and will fit through standard residential doorways. The frame is built of 1" x 3" yellow pine. The platform is 3/4" plywood and the caster wheels are 2" in diameter. It is available in 24 and 18 gun sizes with 3" and 3.5" spacing. The 3" spacing works well for military bolt actions with straight bolts open, lever actions, shotguns and other narrow firearms. 3.5" spacing is more suitable for closed straight bolts and firearms with fixed charging handles.

Stacked Table/Floor Rack

This rack is based on a Finnish armory rack and holds multiple tiers of 8 rifles each in a space 28 1/2" wide with 3" notch spacing or 31 1/2" wide with 3.5" notch spacing.. The footprint depends on the length of the rifles in the rack. Each supporting board has eight 2" wide by 1" deep notches. The bottom brackets provide the lateral support. The rack is built with removable horizontal braces so that it can be broken down and stored or transported. The rack is very sturdy and can be loaded unevenly, although this is not recommended, especially with taller racks. The brackets are spaced 8" from bottom of notch to bottom of notch vertically. It is possible to remove the rifles from the end of the rack, but it is much easier from the side.
